Patch 1 Notes (August 24, 2026)

Cold Iron Studios shipped Patch 1 on 24 August 2026, one day before Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launched worldwide. It is larger than a typical launch hotfix. Several perks were doing the wrong thing entirely, an item duplication bug handed out over two billion of every consumable, and Xbox took the heaviest crash list. This page is the player-facing digest of the official Patch 1 notes. For editions and DLC, see Editions. For PC stutter that this patch does not fix, see PC settings.

Why this patch matters

If you played preview builds or watched early loadout videos, treat those numbers as outdated. Explosive Rounds, Residual Explosives, and the High Explosive Rounds augment no longer stack a second damage penalty on top of the headshot trade-off that comes from converting direct hits into area damage. Companion-bot perks that silently stopped working in multiplayer are live again. Joining a match mid-way no longer grants the maximum integer amount of every item — 2,147,483,647 of each.

Co-op remains peer-to-peer. Patch 1 adds region-based matchmaking so the host your fireteam lands on is more likely to be geographically sane. That is a connection-quality change, not a dedicated-server change.

Combat and class balance

General perks. Vigor and Blood Lust no longer proc off meleeing corpses. Unyielding now grants the +50 health its tooltip always claimed instead of +10. Hard to Hit was granting 100 percent damage reduction instead of 20 percent — that is corrected. Bandolier I and II raise max ammo from 5 percent to 9 percent. Hardened Nature is now a core perk rather than a Final Stand modifier, and it only applies when the rest of the fireteam is downed.

Duelist. Explosive Rounds lose their extra 25 percent damage and stopping-power penalty. Residual Explosives drop from a 40 percent penalty to 15 percent. Both now deal 25 percent as direct-hit damage and 75 percent as area damage, with weak-point reduction spelled out in the text. This is the real design change in Patch 1: explosive Duelist is no longer a trap pick. Timed Explosion on Shrapnel Grenades applies its radius bonus correctly. Gunslinger’s Overclock Microchip and Overclock uplink descriptions were swapped and are now aligned with the actual effects.

Marauder. Cryo Blast ability DPS rises from 10 to 25. Thermal and Cryo Blast no longer run out of ammo. Assault and Battery now reduces Blast Cannon cooldown as intended. Breaching Blast applies 25 percent penetration and armour reduction instead of 50 percent. Rocket Mines start with charges when paired with Minefield. Dead Eye no longer stacks from elemental ammo and damage-over-time far faster than intended.

Machinist. Gas and Cryo turrets no longer run dry. Bodyguard no longer deploys on floors above or below you. Software Update, Brute, Piercing Rounds, and Exterminator now apply to the Bodyguard. Hyperlocal Logistics grants +10 percent regen instead of a flat +5.

Medic. Emergency Charging no longer grants a permanent +1 energy regen after certain revives. Doctor’s Orders and Bedside Manner replicate correctly for clients and affect the marine who actually owns the perk. Super Serum no longer pauses stamina regen while sprinting.

Hunter. Generated weak points on synthetics are visible to clients. Morale Surge grants +2 temporary health on Special kills instead of +5. Stasis Bolt no longer double-stacks Compatibility Matrix.

Weapons and items. The BD-48 Daittyo’s trait grants 17.5 percent weak-point stopping power, not 117.5 percent. Forward Distribution Heatsink increases fire rate by 20 percent below 50 percent heat, matching the intended values. High Explosive Rounds lose the extra 25 percent penalty and now show explosion radius per weapon. Elemental ammo stacks with itself and refills matching elemental weapons. Piercing Rounds can no longer be wasted on explosive weapons. Infinite first-aid kit pickups are closed.

Stability, exploits, and platforms

Xbox received the longest crash list: host crash on Play Next Mission, repeat crashing under certain network conditions, a double controller confirmation on boot, and invites that failed to join a friend’s session. A frame drop when hitting Pathogen gas with fire weapons on Series X is addressed. PlayStation 5 no longer resets purchased DLC weapons and armour after a save and load, and a mission intel item trapped inside a barrel is reachable. WinGDK builds show the mouse cursor on launch. PC’s only listed change is consistent branding across the game folder, taskbar, and shortcut — there is no frame-pacing line in Patch 1.

Exploits closed include skipping the Colony 3 faction fight, standing on unreachable ledges, and completing a late encounter by running back instead of fighting. Two achievements that failed to unlock — Worst Party Ever and Headhunter — now fire. Headhunter counts Synth headshots. Region matchmaking is live.

What Patch 1 does not fix

PC stutter and uneven frame pacing are the loudest launch complaints on Steam, including on high-end machines. Patch 1 does not list an engine-side pacing fix. Use the PC settings guide until a later patch lands. Horde shop UI failures and some checkpoint quirks reported by players are still worth watching; the official notes do not claim a full shop rewrite.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.

Did Patch 1 ship before launch?

Yes. The notes are dated 24 August 2026. The game launched worldwide on 25 August 2026 with Patch 1 already applied on day one.

Did Patch 1 fix PC stutter?

No. The PC section covers branding consistency. Frame pacing is not listed. Use driver-level and in-game settings from the PC settings page until a later patch.

Are explosive Duelist builds viable now?

They are no longer a trap. The extra damage penalty on Explosive Rounds is gone, Residual Explosives is cut to 15 percent, and both deal 25 percent direct and 75 percent area damage. Weak-point conversion still exists, so they are not free power.

Is matchmaking on dedicated servers now?

No. Co-op is still peer-to-peer. Patch 1 adds region-based matchmaking so you are more likely to connect to a closer host.
